While summer holiday has come upon us, the GGL team has been busy drafting updates to the GGL certification scheme. These changes will further clarify and structure our GGL scheme documents into distinct regulatory modules. For the FIT/FIP module, key changes include, amongst others:
- Endorsement of SBP (Sustainable Biomass Program) for Woody biomass;
- Removal of the exemption for Traders in agricultural residues from GGL certification;
- Distinction between the Supplier verification programme that First Collectors of GGL Category 5 (Biogenic residues and wastes) shall have in place, versus certification of GGL Participants.
More details of the upcoming changes can be found under the New and changing documents section.
Upon approval of the new drafts by relevant regulators, GGL will publish these on its website for stakeholder consultation at the publication date. After feedback has been evaluated and reflected as necessary, the new drafts will enter into force at the adoption date, while previous versions of documents remain valid until the effective date. Certification under the previous versions of GGL scheme documents remain valid until the end of the transition period.
