Japanese utilities choose GGL for their sustainable biomass certification

Rotterdam, October 9th 2020; The first Japanese Green Gold Label (GGL) certificates have been recently issued by Control Union Certifications B.V. for three biomass trading and power producing companies in Japan.

Two entities of the Japanese power producer and supplier, eRex Co. Ltd. have recently become the first GGL certified companies by Control Union Certifications. Following this, Hanwa Co. Ltd. a biomass trading company in Japan has also successfully joined the two other companies. All three GGL certified companies fully comply  with the chain of custody and sustainable sourcing standards for the use of biomass for power generation in Japan.

GGL serves as the scheme for certification to assure the traded and consumed biomass products by energy producers originate from a sustainable source. Since 2012 over 172 billion metric tons of biomass -sourced either from wood or other type of feedstock for various companies in Europe and North America trading or utilizing biomass material was certified under the GGL scheme.
