# Green Gold Label

> Green Gold Label (GGL) is an international certification scheme for sustainable biomass in the energy and biobased sectors. It was established in 2002 and is owned by the Green Gold Label Foundation, a Dutch foundation based in Rotterdam. Certification is carried out by independent, accredited third-party certification bodies and covers the complete supply chain, from production and processing through transport to final use.

GGL is recognised under the Dutch SDE++ scheme, the Japanese FIT/FIP scheme and RE100. Recognition under the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED II/III) is in progress.
